The Veterinary Public Health Institute (www.vphi.ch), Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Bern, has an immediate opening for a full-time (100%) research assistant position.
Tasks
• Provide substantial epidemiological and statistical support to various ongoing research projects within the VPH institute (with optional co-authorship on the resulting publications)
• General research themes include surveillance of animal diseases and zoonoses, surveys, epidemiological studies, risk assessment, and clinical trials.
• Current topics are vaccination against bluetongue disease, mastitis, and antimicrobial resistance.
• Contribute to the writing of research proposals to acquire new research funds
• Provide guidance to incoming VPH track and Vet. Master students in project planning, implementation and writing
• Participation in other tasks of the VPHI including undergraduate and graduate level teaching and epidemiological consulting
Expected qualifications
• University degree in veterinary medicine or a related discipline acknowledged in Switzerland or the European Union
• Practical experience in epidemiological research, data management and / or biostatistics, with advanced training / degree in epidemiology or biostatistics being an asset
• Good networking and communications skills
• Fluency in English as well as German or French
• High motivation and ability to work in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment
