Lohmann Animal Health GmbH & Co. KG
is an independent family enterprise located in the German federal state of Lower Saxony. As a specialist for the health and feeding of farmed
poultry, Lohmann is active all over the world and has been successfully proving its
competence in the vaccine and food additive fields for decades. The company employs 550
highly qualified staff members who are the guarantors for further growth and the development
of demanding markets. The leitmotif is "prevention first" for the development and production of
goods to retain the health of food supplying animals.
In co-operation with the Veterinary University of Hanover Foundation, a professorship is being
created for the development of safety concepts against zoonotic pathogens, financed by
Lohmann Animal Health GmbH & Co. KG. In parallel, Lohmann intends to setup its own
research group on the campus, an ideal pre-requisite to efficiently use research synergies at
the research institutions located in Hanover and the future centre for zoonosis research. At
the earliest possible date we are seeking a
Research & Development Team Manager (m/f)
for setting up this research group.
The tasks
• You make a future-oriented active contribution by setting up the research team on
the campus of the Veterinary University of Hanover.
• You set up your team consisting of veterinary surgeons / scientists and technical
assistants.
• The testing and analysis of measures for sustainable prevention of zoonoses are a
main focus of your work.
• You develop biological products for the control of salmonella and campylobacter,
for example, ready for the market.
• Research into additional measures, which serve to make foodstuffs safer, rounds
off your field of activities.
• You represent Lohmann in international study groups, with partner companies, at
universities and during relevant events.
• On account of the close co-operation with the affiliated departments at the company
headquarters and the professorship in Hanover you ensure a permanent exchange
of information and consistent progress in development.
• Your workplace is located on the campus of the Veterinary University of Hanover
offering possibilities of networking with the research institutions present.
• You report directly to the Vice President Science in Cuxhaven.
The requirement
• Veterinary or comparable studies and specialisation on microbiological problems,
food safety or veterinary public health.
• Well-founded knowledge in research and development at a university or in industry;
in the field of biological diversity welcome.
• First experience as a co-ordinator of a small team.
• Self-confident appearance in intercultural surroundings, willingness to participate in
international congresses and the ability to network within the veterinary public
health groups.
• Good knowledge of German and English; knowledge of other foreign languages is
a bonus.
